New Look

not for me…but for my blog!

i’m working on a layout for my photo website so i decided to go ahead and revamp some things here while i’m in the process.  i mainly just changed the colors cause i still wanted it to be simple.

let me know what you think!

Rachel and Joie!

Planning

I’m happy to hear about how many churches still participate in Advent! I guess, coming from the churches I grew up in, I would have just assumed not many did (silly me).

(O come O come)

Advent season is a great time of stretching my musical skills. We play a number of Christmas songs, and for those who are musicians, they really aren’t that similar to the “three chord” chorus songs we may be use to playing. However, it’s still a lot of fun and being as lucky as I am to have the musicians we have here at epoch, it ends up being better than expected (thanks guys and wife).

Things are really coming along in epoch’s new place! Since we’ve never had a place of our own, we having to think “outside the box” on how to use this place during the week! We’ve had a number of people use it for a meeting place (even a business down the block did), but I think what has been even more exciting is the number of people who have come who live in the area.

Our past location was in more of a business district and not near many homes. Now, we are right in the middle of a great neighborhood with a lot of potential for meeting needs. In a way, we’ve had to “start over” to meet this community and we’re loving it!

Please continue to pray for Epoch. Our vision is to be a church that reaches the lost in downtown little rock. We can work our tail ends off trying to attract a crowd, but if the Spirit’s not in it…it’s going to be nothing but hard work for ourselves. Pray that the Lord will continue to lead in all that we do and that He leads relationships and conversations so that those who are hurting and hopeless will be comforted and find hope (it may sound generic, but those people are all around us).

January 4th will be our vision night. We’ve got some cool stuff coming up this next year…you’ll want to be there that night!

and that is all…

1st Sunday of Advent

at epoch, we have a tradition of participating in the advent season (yes, we even have the wreath and candles).  the four elements we focus on throughout this season is hope, peace, joy, and love.

tomorrow, the focus is hope.

the hope we received by Christ’s first coming…
the hope we look forward to in His second…

(yes we do have hope in this messed up world)

does your church celebrate advent?
(i’m just curious)
