it wasn’t near long enough but we had a great time…can’t wait till we go again!
well we’re headed out to california for our first vacation as a married couple today!
(yea!)
don’t worry…my child (camera) will be coming with us so i’ll hopefully have some pictures to post next week…
we were crazy busy, but we all had a great time in new orleans the past couple of days!
you hear the devastation on the news and even get a chance to see a few pictures…but until you’re down there and you hear the stories coming from those who actually experienced it…it’s hard to fully comprehend. i was expecting to see the majority of the city back to normal…maybe a few houses still abandoned…or even a few businesses deserted…but overall…back to normal…
i was wrong…
there was literally damaged and abandoned homes everywhere. the lower ninth (where the levy broke) is a ghost town. the majority of the homes are not even there because the water moved the homes off of their foundation or destroyed them. as far as you could see…nothing but concrete stairs leading to homes that aren’t there anymore…
we’re told the emotion toil maybe even worse than the devastation the city has experienced…rent has gone up because of the lack of rentable apartments…which puts pressure on families who already have a hard time making ends meet. families are put in tough positions…some of the kids we spoke to don’t even remember life before the storm…
it was in ‘05…
(can you believe it?)
here are few pictures from the week…continue to pray for this city…not just for the rebuilding of homes…but that their joy will come from the father…
I’ve entered some pictures into a little contest…if you like them…go vote for them!
