Solar Eclipse 2017

Today I had the chance to experience something I had on my calendar for 15 years.  In 2002, my dad told me to put August 21, 2017 in my calendar and that we were going to take a trip to see the total solar eclipse.  Being a weather / space nerd, I didn’t need any convincing.  Over the years, we would randomly talk about our future trip to see the solar eclipse and how, even if we were sick, we would make this trip happen.

And we did make this trip happen.  And my dad even bought matching shirts.  🙂

Here are a few images from the eclipse.  We were just north of Eddyville, KY.

This was the most incredible thing I’ve been able to witness in nature.  Absolutely nothing compares.  Every time I think about it I still feel the same awe and wonder.  God’s creation is a miraculous thing and I thank the Lord I had the opportunity to experience this.

Please go see the next one in 2024.  Skip work.  Take a vacation day.  It will be worth it.

Personal Work – My Grandmother

This was a tough week for my family and I.  My grandmother passed away this past Thursday and her funeral was yesterday.  It was a great service dedicated to her and her faith in Jesus Christ.  I tried to think of what to say in this post to really capture the past week but, unfortunately, no words would do.

It has been a rare time when all of our family came together for multiple days.  And, just like family, we start back where we left off.
No awkwardness.
Just sharing in our sorrow and laughing from memories.

And I guess that is life.  Sorrow and laughter.  Often at the same time.

My grandmother loved Jesus and it was apparent even up unto her death.  She didn’t just believe the facts of who Jesus was, she made Jesus her Lord.  I’m honored to have an example such as her.

Here are some pictures from my iphone of this past week.  These are images of things we, as family, often overlook in my grandparents house and a few images of just what has happened this past week.

God is good.

Kim and I were blessed to be able to take pictures for a friend’s wedding in New York a couple weeks ago!  I’m horrible at taking pictures for personal use, but here are a few from our trip up there.

Personal Work – January 2012

I’ve found myself loving Arkansas culture.  Specifically outside of the city (Little Rock).  I’ve had to drive to Stuttgart, AR a couple of times for family reasons and couldn’t get enough of the landscape and small towns we would drive through.  To add a little bit more nostalgia, I shot these on film (Fuji Pro 400H) with my mother-in-law’s old Nikon FG.

(And yes, I still shoot weddings, engagements, etc. and will be posting them in a couple weeks)
