Last Night

I decided to spend monday evening taking some pictures around little rock…
here are a few…

You never forget…

It’s late here in “the rock” (official nickname for little rock…no really…it was like voted on and everything) and quite rainy…

I decided to stay up a little later tonight than normal because I’m not going to work in the morning…I’m singing in a funeral…my great uncle (grandpa’s brother) died on Monday and my family wanted me to sing “Amazing Grace (My Chains are God)” for the service.

Anytime someone dies you automatically begin to recall the memories you had of that person…

old bike

Sim (great uncle) lived next door to me…he was around 75 and had dementia pretty bad…it was to the point that he sometimes forgot how old he actually was which then made him forget what limitations come with being that certain age…

Let me explain…(and this story is quite funny if you can picture it)

(once upon a time)

There is a barn behind my house (remember I live in my grandparents old house) that stored a number of things…tractors, mowers, tools, bikes, gardening supplies, etc. Well Sim would sometimes find his way into that barn and decide to drag out things from time to time…

This particular day…the bike…

If you’ve never had the chance to witness a 75 year old-dementia ridden man with overalls riding a 25 year old bike through your back yard…you’re really missing out!

What’s the saying? “it’s like riding a bike…you never forget”…that is so true…who knows when the last time this man had rode a bike…but this day…he picked it right up as if it were day before…

Of course the dementia took over and he decided to ride down the street and someone had to go pick him up…but never-the-less…he had the time of his life…

(the end)

(My family’s pretty great…I sometimes forget…)

Killer Turkeys

one of my good friends jonathan hinton was headed to the retreat this morning…and so he called for directions…

but then a called a few minutes later…

here’s how it went…

me: sup man…
hinton: yo dude…i have a little problem
me: what’s wrong?
hinton: well i just hit a turkey
me: (laughing my ace off)
hinton: it came out of no where and my windshield is crushed!
me: (laughing my ace off)

here are the pics when he showed up…

Odds?

so saturday i was cleaning some things in my yard…with sandals on…(sandals?)…yes sandals (i wasn’t expecting to clean up things…i just happened to see one thing in the yard…then the one thing turned into a couple of things…and so on)

i ended up picking up a metal rod of some sort…and it fell and landed on my big toe…

no big deal…

but then i started to get worried…for one thing it made a good size cut on my toe…(only needed one band aid though)…but it was also rusty…

Tetanus Shot

now all I’ve heard growing up is “if you cut yourself with anything rusty you need to get a tetanus shot!”…but is that true?…I mean what are the odds I’m going to lose my toe?

are there any medical peeps that read this thing?
need some free medical advice!

Headed to the beach…

I’m headed to lead a camp with nathan in Gulf Shores, AL tonight…
(don’t worry…i hear they have internet there…so hopefully I’ll be able to post and let you guys know how things are going…)

but before I go…Kim and I went to the Garvan Woodland Gardens today to see the tulips….
(don’t make fun)

Here are some shots from the day…

The Evil Empire

It’s already begun…

This devastating natural disaster has the ability to make strong men weak…and weak men weaker…you can’t run from it…you can’t hide from its reign…it’s here…and here to stay (for a while anyway)

I hate allergies
