Honeymoon

Thanks for the congrats everyone!

well i said i would post some pictures from our honeymoon in cancun…
so here they are…

(i don’t really have a lot of really good shots…it was so humid there…and so cold in our room…that it would take almost 30 minutes for my camera to defog every time i wanted to take it out to take some shots…so i’m only posting few of my favorites)

Hitched!

here it is…my first post as a married man!
(and being married sure is great…i’m loving it!)

i have a few shots from the wedding (i didn’t take them, obviously) that my good friend andy took. you can click the image and it will take you to his photo page…then just click on “grant & kim’s wedding” to get some bigger images…

andy

(pretty good huh?)

my other good friend from california, tyler, was our main photographer…he’s still working on our images so it may be a little while before I get to post his up…(but stay tuned!)

there were two songs in the service…”how deep the father’s love” and “there is a fountain”…that sean michel and justin sanders did perfectly…they were great…thanks guys!

and since i am bragging on peoples artsy skills…my wife (weird to write) is pretty talented herself. she made the wedding programs for our wedding and i wanted to show them off a little. i think the term she had for them was “dainty” (since they’re little).

here’s each page…

and here’s a better picture of what they looked like on the entry table…
(thanks julie stone)

did i mention she was gorgeous too? here are a few of her bridal shots she had done by jamie fender. there are some others kim likes a little more but we haven’t purchased them just yet…so we don’t have them…so here are a few jamie put up on her website…

ok i’m done bragging…

and as far as the wedding…it was amazing!…it was humbling to us both to see so many come to celebrate what the lord has done in, not just our lives, but their own lives as well…

god is good
all the time
(and so we’re thankful)

i’ll post some honeymoon pictures in a couple of days…

2 Days!

I get married in two days!
(i sure love this girl)

so needless to say…i’ll be out of commission for the next couple of weeks…

when i come back i’ll post pictures and tell stories…
so anticipate…

(and feel free to drop by the ceremony…we’d love to see you!)

Holy Cow

that was my first words after i took my greek test today.

it was one of those tests that you study and study for and when you finish taking the test you realize you could have been playing video games the past two days and made the same grade…(as in it wasn’t good)

don’t get me wrong…i am learning greek…but apparently not the same greek the professor wanted to test me on today. oh well…perhaps the “fog” will lift soon and i’ll be fluent by the end of the class.

(hey a guy can dream right?)

Photo Contest #4 coming up next week!

“No”

I promise I’m still here…

I’ve been super busy with church, school, wedding, leading worship at few places around little rock, etc. hopefully things will slow down soon..

I remember a time, back in college, when I use to brag about how busy I was…whether it was the amount of papers I had to do…the amount of retreats I was leading…the late nights…early mornings…no time to sleep…no time to eat…(well maybe not that one)…i was just stressed!

but i boasted about it…it was like i wanted to be busy…so that others would think i was busy…(doesn’t make since i know)

halfway through my senior year of college, my life had become so busy that i noticed it was taking a toll on my relationships with people…the joy i once felt from building relationships and doing ministry was gone…so i tried out a new word…it was something I had learned at a really young age but somehow forgot about it…instead of always saying “yes”…i said “no”

the amount of freedom and the release of stress that came when I first told someone “no” was indescribable…so from then on I made a conscience effort to try to balance my life…

“start small…go deep”

don’t do everything…you can’t…focus on a few things…do them well…

(i say all these things as I just talked about how busy i’ve been lately…)

what do you do to keep from overworking?
how do you balance your life?
do you have a problem with saying “no”?

we had a blast tonight…

What a week…

(my fiancee informed me that i’ve only posted once this week…so this is for you sweetie)

This week has been a week of firsts…(bullets!)

  • the church’s first “visitation” (went quite well)
  • my first day back in seminary (you gotta hafta know greek)
  • my first meeting with little rock christian’s chapel team (i’m helping out with the music for their high school chapel)
  • the church’s first fax machine was set up (we’re big time now)
  • the church’s first book series (ephesians) begins this week
  • we began working in office number two
  • so because of these things…i’ve been unable to entertain the masses (sarcasm) and post this week…

however, i have been working on a couple of posts…one that asks the question “does our methodology express our theology in our own lives, not just the church“. And another dealing with our concept of “needs versus wants” (mainly dealing with materialism). the reason i haven’t posted these yet is because the lord is still teaching me some things about them…

and we have another photo contest i’ll try putting up in a couple of weeks…so get your cameras ready…

and now to add some color to the post…

    fax

    (way cool fax/copier/scanner/printer/cookyoudinner machine)
we’ve actually had this for a while but never had a land-line where we could use the fax

    officetwo

office number two…(which looks quite similar to office number one…except for the lack of a dry-erase board)

    Staying Connected

though i’m not convinced that having a device that checks my email on my hip all the time is a good thing…never-the-less i bought one yesterday from att…

    blackjack

    (it’s a blackjack)

you may be thinking…”but grant…aren’t you a mac guy?…why would buy something that’s not a mac product?…especially since they have the iphone?” a few reasons…

  • i didn’t have to pay $600
  • i had a upgrade discount i could use
  • i found a way to sync my mac with the phone
  • i didn’t have to pay $600
  • i’m liking it so far…although i kind of miss my old phone (i get a little attached to an object that i’ve used for two years straight…and when i change it…well it’s just weird).
