All Night Chick-fil-a

Well my fiancee is camping out at chick-fil-a tonight…again…

Yes you heard (read) me right…
Not only is she actually camping out at chick-fil-a…but it is her second time in three weeks…

You see…Chick-fil-a has a pretty great promo deal for when they open a new store. The first 100 people get a years worth (52 value meals) of chicken for free…

and who doesn’t like chicken?
especially free chicken?

and really it’s a big party out there…loud music…free food…news stations…crazy chicken addicts
it’s quite the experience!

I didn’t have my camera this time…but I do have a picture from a couple of weeks ago…

Beautiful Day

Usually in July…Arkansas is nothing more than a hot bowl of heat and humidity…however lately…it has rained so much that it has kept the temperature down in the 80’s and helped make the normally hot July days bearable…

it was a pretty day…so I took some shots…

He Is Good

Cows

Cows

There is no need to inform me that there is really nothing inherently spectacular about these pictures…but sometimes…

through the busyness of work…
the stresses in life…
the worries of tomorrow…

we need to be reminded that if the Lord takes care of the sparrow (or cow) and clothes the flowers (or grass)…how much more will He take care of you…

the Lord likes to remind me of these things at very random times…and sometimes…he uses the most unlikely to open my eyes…

(He is good…all the time)

The Body

the coastal cafe in the river market now knows me by my first name…
that made me happy…

we hung out last night with seanmichel before they leave for their summer tour.
we prayed…ate…and revisited the truth of the body of christ.
which led me to revisit the lectionary.
it use to be a part of my everyday readings…i’ve decided it should make its comeback

(Psalm 88 am, Psalm 91,92 pm
1 Samuel 3:1-21, Acts 2:37-47, Luke 21:5-19)

my roommate decided it would be a good time to introduce bocce ball to everyone.
so some played…and some watched…

Off to Chicago

chicago

well everyone…i’m headed to chicago tomorrow (wednesday) with my girlfriend, kim, to visit the family she nannied for about a year ago (long sentence?)…

…anyway…

i really like chicago so i’m pretty pumped about it…(and i’m going with my girlfriend…so it’s that much better…(and i get to take pictures!))…i’m sure i won’t have internet so i may be non-existent for a while…

so…until sunday (maybe)…take care friends…

You never forget…

It’s late here in “the rock” (official nickname for little rock…no really…it was like voted on and everything) and quite rainy…

I decided to stay up a little later tonight than normal because I’m not going to work in the morning…I’m singing in a funeral…my great uncle (grandpa’s brother) died on Monday and my family wanted me to sing “Amazing Grace (My Chains are God)” for the service.

Anytime someone dies you automatically begin to recall the memories you had of that person…

old bike

Sim (great uncle) lived next door to me…he was around 75 and had dementia pretty bad…it was to the point that he sometimes forgot how old he actually was which then made him forget what limitations come with being that certain age…

Let me explain…(and this story is quite funny if you can picture it)

(once upon a time)

There is a barn behind my house (remember I live in my grandparents old house) that stored a number of things…tractors, mowers, tools, bikes, gardening supplies, etc. Well Sim would sometimes find his way into that barn and decide to drag out things from time to time…

This particular day…the bike…

If you’ve never had the chance to witness a 75 year old-dementia ridden man with overalls riding a 25 year old bike through your back yard…you’re really missing out!

What’s the saying? “it’s like riding a bike…you never forget”…that is so true…who knows when the last time this man had rode a bike…but this day…he picked it right up as if it were day before…

Of course the dementia took over and he decided to ride down the street and someone had to go pick him up…but never-the-less…he had the time of his life…

(the end)

(My family’s pretty great…I sometimes forget…)
